At ICS, our founding mission was much larger than providing an excellent K-8 public education. We help our diverse body of students develop their own capacity to be informed, open-minded, and responsible global citizens. Key to that success is that at ICS, students learn Spanish not by taking a Spanish class, but instead by taking their core classes in Spanish. And, outside classroom field trips and in-school guests enhance the curriculum. Our signature program, Take Flight, brings 7th graders to Latin America to experience life truly lived in another culture. It’s a big undertaking with a cost of $2,200 per student that we cover through student fundraising efforts and, literally, dozens of other solicitations, raffles, and auctions. We want to create more opportunities like Take Flight. We believe that equity demands it. Help us establish an endowment to underwrite all 800 students’ participation in transformative learning experiences.
